Who operates

Railway carriers

On longer intercity routes it is mainly PKP Intercity (IC and EIC trains, the fastest being Pendolino/EIP). Regional connections are operated by POLREGIO and regional government railways (e.g. Koleje Mazowieckie, Koleje Śląskie, Koleje Wielkopolskie). Within agglomerations, fast urban railways (SKM/PKM) run.

How to buy

Train tickets step by step

You can buy a ticket in three ways: in an app/online service (most convenient), at the ticket office at the station or from a ticket machine. You can also buy from the conductor on the train, but sometimes with a surcharge — better to have a ticket beforehand.

Popular apps: Koleo (buys tickets of many carriers in one place), the official PKP Intercity app and Bilkom. In the Koleo app you can also buy a combined rail + FlixBus bus ticket for one journey.

Tip: the earlier you buy a ticket for a long-distance train (IC/Pendolino), the more often you'll get a cheaper fare pool. Students and some groups have statutory discounts — ask at the ticket office or check in the app.
Questions

FAQ

Do I need a seat reservation?
On PKP Intercity trains (IC/EIC/EIP) seat reservation often applies — it is included in the ticket. Regional trains usually have no seat reservations.
Can I buy a ticket without a Polish card and account?
Yes — at the ticket office you can pay in cash or by card, and apps accept payment cards and BLIK. A Polish phone number makes app registration easier.
Where can I check the timetable?
The most complete timetable is on koleo.pl and the rozkład-PKP portal; for a specific carrier — on its website and in its app.
